Let me tell you about my best friend:

1. We met on the first day of Kindergarten. At the bus stop.

2. Amongst a bazillion other commonalities, we share a love for hiking.

3. And pretty things.

4. Especially hiking to see pretty things.

5. There’s a lot more I could say… we always have a great time on our adventures!

When Peggy’s birthday appeared to be coinciding with some nice weather and blooming wildflowers, we packed up and headed to the Columbia River gorge so she could show me a new-to-me wildflower hike. It. Was. AMAZING. You can find the route on the All Trails App here.

Groves of oak trees. Lush meadow grasses. Colorful bunches of sunny bright yellow balsam root contrasting perfectly with tall, purple spikes of lupine. Basically heaven. We may have heard a cougar chirping (the mountain lion variety… not the 40 year old woman variety), and saw a rattlesnake slither under a rock but all in all it was a peaceful, enjoyable, rejuvenating and easy hike!
